LongHorn Steakhouse in Bourbonnais Hires Green Pro Services for Windows, Walkways, and the Dumpster Area

Green Pro Services is now the exterior cleaning contractor for the LongHorn Steakhouse at 1503 IL Route 50 in Bourbonnais, Illinois. The agreement puts us on site every month for window cleaning, and on a recurring schedule for pressure washing the front walkways, the side entrance, and the dumpster area behind the building.

This one means a lot to us. We are a small local crew based on Yates Avenue in Kankakee, and we compete against national vendors for restaurant work. The managing partner at LongHorn met us through the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce, walked the property with us, and gave us a shot. The Contract

The scope covers the parts of the property a guest actually touches or looks at on the way in the door.

• Monthly window cleaning. Exterior glass, frames, and sills across the front and side elevations, plus the entry doors that pick up hand prints all day long.
• Walkway pressure washing. The sidewalk running along the front of the building and the path from the parking lot to the entrance.
• Dumpster area cleaning. The concrete pad and corral surround, which is where grease, food waste, and drips collect faster than anywhere else on a restaurant property.
• Recurring schedule. Set visits instead of emergency calls, so the property never gets far enough out of shape to need a heavy reset.

Why It Matters

The dumpster area is the part nobody wants to think about

Every restaurant has one, and it takes the worst beating on the property. Grease works its way out of the container, cooks into the concrete in the summer heat, and turns the pad black. Then it tracks. Employees walk through it on the way back inside, delivery drivers roll carts through it, and the smell carries toward the patio when the wind sits the wrong way.

We clean that pad with hot water and a degreaser that breaks the oil loose instead of just pushing it into the corner of the corral. Surface cleaning gets the flat concrete even, then we detail the edges and the corral posts by hand. The rinse water gets managed so it is not chased into a storm drain. The Concrete

New concrete needs a lighter hand

The slab at this location is new. Fresh concrete has not fully cured to the hardness of a five year old sidewalk, and hitting it with too much pressure at too close a distance will etch it. Once you leave wand marks or a striped pattern in a new pour, that damage does not wash out. It stays there for the life of the slab.

So on a property like this we drop the pressure, back the surface cleaner off, and let chemistry and dwell time do the work instead of brute force. It takes longer. It is the right call. A restaurant owner who just paid for new concrete does not want a cleaning contractor to be the reason it looks worn out a year early. We schedule restaurant work early in the morning before open, so the glass is dry and the concrete has drained long before the first table sits down.
